Sony kicked off this year unveiling it Xperia Z Android smartphone at the CES show in January, promising it is the most advanced handset it's ever made. The phone was designed to break Samsung's iron-clad grip on the Android ecosystem, with it being believed to currently account for over half of the overall smartphone market by most analyst houses.
Since launching, the Xperia Z had some success in its endeavour to invade Samsung's Galaxy, with analyst Kantar Worldpanel reporting a number of Samsung smartphone users jumping ship to Sony in its latest quarterly mobile market report.
