Continuing its trend of creating a product for every conceivable
niche, Samsung on Tuesday announced plans for a version of its Galaxy
Tab line designed just for kids.
The colorful Galaxy Tab 3 Kids comes preloaded with various games and educational content, and with an ability for parents to set limits on what children can do, and for how long.
Amazon offers a similar option for the Kindle Fire, while Microsoft has a “Kid’s Corner” feature built into Windows Phone 8. Those options, though, are designed for parents to share their device with a child, while Samsung’s effort is clearly aimed at giving kids their own device.
LeapFrog and others also make devices specifically aimed at the youth market, while any trip to a restaurant will show that lots of iPads and iPod touches are finding their way into small hands.
