The Apple iPhone 5S is the Californian firm's latest top-end smartphone, and it was released alongside the first ever plastic iPhone 5C.
However, unlike the £469 iPhone 5C, which features close to identical specifications to Apple's former flagship iPhone 5, the 5S boasts a host of upgraded internal components. Chief among these is its new A7 processor and Touch ID sensor. Apple would not disclose the A7 chip's exact specs but claims it is radically faster than the A6 used in the iPhone 5. The Touch ID sensor is a custom fingerprint scanner, designed to boost the 5S' enterprise appeal. It works by scanning the sub-epidermal skin layers of the person holding the iPhone to verify their identity before unlocking.
