Samsung and HTC have been fighting for control of the Android ecosystem since Google first released the mobile operating system in 2008.
While Samsung has scored some key victories over HTC in this ongoing war, with recent buyers showing an increasing preference for Samsung's Galaxy range of smartphones, 2014 could be the year this all changes.
The 2014 battle looks like it will be one of the most heated to date, with Samsung launching its Galaxy S5 and HTC its One M8. Both Samsung and HTC list their respective handsets as being the most technologically advanced currently available.
