Xbox 360 topped US December sales - analysts

3DS and PS3 fight it out for second place

 

Games industry analysts have weighed in with US sales predictions for the month of December 2011, ahead of the NPD Group's expected release of official market data this Thursday.

Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter and fellow analyst firm EEDAR both expect Xbox 360 to comfortably be the top selling console for the month, and the only platform to shift over two million units. The pair are disagree which system will come in second, with Pachter plumping for PS3 and EEDAR for 3DS.
On the software front, Pachter forecast sales of $2.41 billion, up two percent year-over-year, making December the fourth consecutive month of positive growth in the US.
December sales are expected to be led by November releases Modern Warfare 3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Revelations, as well as October releases Battlefield 3 and Just Dance 3.
