Microsoft's decision to reshuffle its
management structure is being hailed by analysts as a welcome shakeup to
the company's aging business plan.
The company said that it would be
restructuring its operations in a set of moves that would include the
departure of several executives and the shift of several others to run
multiple brands and products, all reporting to chief executive Steve
Ballmer.
The move, say industry pundits, helps to usher the company into a new era with an improved structure.
“I think Steve Ballmer finally realised
that the siloed structure at Microsoft was not working,” explained Rob
Enderle, principal analyst with the Enderle Group.
“A lot of the problem with Windows 8 is that Office is not a Windows 8 product, there was a lot of separation.”
