There certainly has been a lot of activity today on the Microsoft campus. Starting this morning, in an email to employees released to the public, chief executive Steve Ballmer announced a far-reaching realignment of the company’s senior leadership team, and he provided a compelling memo demonstrating how much we’ve developed “our thinking on our strategy for high-value activities based on devices and services delivery.”
In the email, Ballmer discusses that vision. And he talks about where we’ve been and how far we’ve come:
“This company has always had a big vision — to help people realize their full potential. In the earliest days, it was by putting a PC on every desk and in every home. We’ve come farther than we could have imagined. The impact we have collectively made on the world is undeniable, and I am inspired when talented new hires say they chose Microsoft because they want to change the world — that’s what we do today, and that’s what we’ll do tomorrow.”Today Ballmer also held a Town Hall meeting on the Redmond campus to talk to the staff and let his senior leadership team answer questions about the road ahead.
