Ballmer talks about realignment and the future for ‘One Microsoft’

There certainly has been a lot of activity today on the Microsoft campus. Starting this morning, in an email to employees released to the public, chief executive Steve Ballmer announced a far-reaching realignment of the company’s senior leadership team, and he provided a compelling memo demonstrating how much we’ve developed “our thinking on our strategy for high-value activities based on devices and services delivery.”
In the email, Ballmer discusses that vision. And he talks about where we’ve been and how far we’ve come:
“This company has always had a big vision — to help people realize their full potential. In the earliest days, it was by putting a PC on every desk and in every home. We’ve come farther than we could have imagined. The impact we have collectively made on the world is undeniable, and I am inspired when talented new hires say they chose Microsoft because they want to change the world — that’s what we do today, and that’s what we’ll do tomorrow.”
Today Ballmer also held a Town Hall meeting on the Redmond campus to talk to the staff and let his senior leadership team answer questions about the road ahead. Watch the video above to see some of the best moments of that meeting.
